This week's Monday Moment with Michelle:
In August of 2018, alongside my family, I hiked/scrambled TWO mountains! And all in the course of a weekend.
The first one was the Tower of Babel in Moraine Lake, AB. It was only a 2.9 km distance with a 518m elevation gain BUT was pretty much a steep 36 degree slope, scrambling loose rocks and scree while on all 4’s. I found it difficult, but again, this was my very first mountain scramble. The view looking down onto Moraine Lake was breathtaking! It was exhausting but worth it!
The next day I made it 3/4 of the way up Cascade Mountain in Banff, AB. It was a 19.8km distance with a 1764m elevation gain. Extremely long and tiring trek. I only made it up a little past the amphitheatre, just over the ridgeline. I was super tired and sore from the day before and I just couldn’t push on any further (unlike my husband and kids who achieved the 2998m summit)! It was all crazy difficult, but one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
This past summer, I decided to take something on that I never thought I would ever do. Firstly, because of I am scared of heights, and secondly, because I’m not much of an athlete.

Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing. Whatever goals you set, just know that they are attainable if you keep working at it!
I'm already looking forward to this summer's family hiking trek.
Here are a few pics of my adventures!
